Welcome,

It is my honor to invite to all people of Filipino Martial Arts around the world to attend the 11th WEKAF World Championship of the WEKAF to be held in Puerto Vallarta, México.  While previous WEKAF World Championship has taken place in Asia this is the first bi-annual World Championship to be held outside of Asia, USA and Europe.  The event thus symbolizes the international role of WEKAF to promote the highest level of FMA exchange in a rapidly globalizing world.  The Championship will allow practitioners and masters from Europe, Asia, Oceania and North America to acquaint themselves with the rapidly increasing numbers of people of Filipino Martial Arts from Latin-America.  Moreover, the 11th WEKAF World Championship will include program topics such as international style meetings, school owners meeting and master´s seminars in addition to the traditional WEKAF program. 

Puerto Vallarta a highly developed international tourist city with multiple entertainment opportunities and a friendly population with English speakers widely distributed. Opportunities to tour find yourself strolling back in time as you meander down the streets of the historic area of town, or the village of San Sebastian (15 minutes by plane) or follow your own steps to the rhythms of the Mariachi.

Your eyes can feast on beautiful textiles, original works of art from local artists and all over the globe, or the breathtaking beadwork of the Huichol Indians. Your mouth will water with anticipation for the authentic Mexican cuisine, while chefs from around the world serve up delicacies in renowned international restaurants.

Maybe it was the lush tropical climate, or the white sandy beaches that first caught the eye of tourists who began to flock to this Mexican paradise in the late 19th century.

Or maybe it was something more that made John Huston chooses Puerto Vallarta as the setting for The Night of the Iguana (and the headline-grabbing, off-screen romance of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton).

With so much that Puerto Vallarta has to offer, every moment in this beautiful vacation spot can be shaped to meet your individual desires.

With ample opportunities for activity at every turn, your adventurous side will never go unfulfilled, unless, or course, you want to give it a rest. Puerto Vallarta has direct air connections to almost every world capital.  Moreover, special efforts are planned to allow Filipino team, children and women to attend. The 2010 World Championship in Puerto Vallarta will be, for many WEKAF members, a turning point to allow the development of fruitful collaborations with Latin-America and other Filipino Martial Arts partners.
